VIPER-ADVISORY BOARD MEETING WAS HELD

The Game Volunteers in Play project is an educational program for individuals who love to spend time with children and want to improve their knowledge and skills on “children's games”. The product that will emerge at the end of the project will be a vocational education program prepared in many languages, including the course materials required for vocational trainers and beneficiaries. As stated in the 31st article of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, "Play is the right of every child." Based on the relevant article of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the course created at the end of the project will create a useful guide that tells adults why play is important for children and supports play activities.

The purpose of the VIPER project is to transfer the course created in six partner countries to our country with its content and application. On 23 April 2014, “Advisory Board Meeting” was organized by Kütahya Social Sciences Vocational School lecturer, Dr. Counselor Naci DOĞRUL and Dr. Counselor H.Günsel DOĞRUL. The meeting was attended by some administrators and teachers of primary schools and kindergartens in Kutahya, the project successfully in the exchange of ideas about what should be done for the implementation was carried out in Turkey.

Our participants submitted after the project needs analysis results generated for Turkey, courses are given information about the contents. While the educational and instructive content that only focuses on the game is appreciated, it is recommended that families who want to spend more quality time with their children should be benefited from this course. In addition, new application areas for the course were proposed at the end of the project. It is recommended that the students of the Pre-School department of the Girls' Vocational High Schools are also beneficiaries of the course.

The course titled “Game Volunteers” is accredited by the British Sector Qualifications Council. At the meeting, what could be done about the certification of the course in our country was also discussed. The requirement that the course should be at least 80 hours long in order to be offered within the Public Education was not found suitable for volunteer education. As a more viable option, it was proposed to organize the course in a non-formal, more local form.

The Advisory Board meeting made an important contribution to our project during the determination of the course content.
